Testimonials of Owners
These are the comments from owners who bought their puppies from Brewer's Kennel.
7/11Hi Nancy, I moved last year from SC to New Orleans in the Garden District. However, being the place with the highest violent crime rate in the country, even my nice neighborhood had a drive by shooting last Friday night in front of my house (no one hurt thank God). We also had a murder and carjacking on the street late last year. Just normal life here. Zeno's presence has deterred any issues from break ins for my house and the ones adjacent which are rampant here in Uptown. He constantly patrols the property and keeps a great watch for strangers. I had a fence built that wraps all the way to the front one one side near the front door so he's always around to greet potentially bad company. I did have to get both gates reinforced as Zeno is very active in his guarding... he broke a board on the drive in gate and dented the wrought iron one. He's oversized and serious... great combo for New Orleans! The neighbors appreciate him being around keeping an eye on things. Zeno's main issue is the heat... I had a garage converted to a pen for him and my Rottie mutt and had an AC unit installed with a doggie door... it gets brutal here! Attached are some pics that show him after a swim... its always hilarious! Thanks again for calling me to take a look at him... he turned out to be perfect for where I moved to! Thanks,Jason 12/09 Hi Nancy, I wanted to give you an update on Zeno now that he is 13 months old. Physically he turned out on the big side, looking to be a bit over 26" tall (hopefully he is done growing!) and a leanly muscular 95 lbs. He is starting to get a bit of tan fur on the backsides of his legs (like the light colored fur that was between his toes as a puppy). He looks great! I wonder if he will fill out a bit more or if he stays lean... He has no issues showing aggression to strangers and is a very vigilant guard dog. I think I told you when he was a puppy he would get a bit of hair rise on his back when challenging someone, but that is no longer the case. He is very confident. He won't permit anyone to invade his territory. While I worried at first he might be a bit handler aggressive due to his dominant streak, it hasn't been an issue. While he is in that age where he has to be reminded now and again who the alpha is, I've just been using firm and consistent discipline with him when he challenges and it works just fine. I haven't needed anything harsh like a dominant dog collar or electric collar either, which I'm not a fan of. Zeno is still very pack oriented and he hates being apart from me. He also thinks he is still a little guy and wants to get on my lap, pretty funny! He has a non-stop play drive and is a ball nut :) I think you were wise to make sure he went to the right person - he is a perfect fit for me! Jason |

![]() We
just wanted to tell you how much we are enjoying our
Duchess and Weylin. When we got Duchess 4 years ago we
did so after having to put to rest our beloved Tara who
was also a German Shepherd. We were so lonesome and
needed a very loving dog to keep us company while we
healed, so we got Duchess. From the moment we saw her we
were in love. Even though she was already two years old,
that didn’t matter. Actually it was better, because we
really did not have to do any training. She has been
the best companion, by our sides at all times. She is
very protective but very loving to all she meets. Our
vet has on her chart “The Best Ever!” She is so sweet
and we are so glad we found you! Then two years ago we
decided to get her a four legged playmate. That’s when
we came back to you and picked up Weylin. Although he
was eight months old and much bigger then Duchess, he
was so awesome to see. He is absolutely handsome and
turns heads every time we have him on a walk or out for
a ride in the car. He was a lot more work, but we were
ready to learn and grow with him. You helped us a lot
with his training and we are very grateful to you for
showing us the things we needed to learn and training us
along with him. He is also a protector and a very

We have enjoyed raising four of Nancy's German Shepherd
puppies. All have been pleasant and even tempered dogs
with plenty of character and personality. Two of the
puppies are now with each of our grown children's
families. The latest addition, Grumbles, is here to
stay....no more nabbing of the very nice shepherds for
the grandchildren once the dogs are over the puppy
stage. These dogs have been sound and healthy. Nancy has
done a wonderful job with her long time and successful
breeding program! |

Dear Nancy,![]() My name is Mark De Luca and in April of 2008 I purchased one of your shepherds from Scott Michaelson & Frank Radice up here on Long Island. The dog is perfect in every way imaginable! He was born at your kennel on January 17, 2008 and you gave him the name of Xandau Brewer. I was hoping that I could get another copy of his papers from you as I have lost the original set. I never registered him with the AKC and now people are asking if I’m willing to breed him and I am I just need his papers. Please contact me at your earliest convenience on how I can get a new set of papers. Thanks So much! Mark De Luca |

Hi Nancy, I wanted to send you pictures of our three Brewers GSDs, Zarek (almost 6 years old), Fritz (4 years old) and Zada (now almost 9 months). Zarek is high energy and very intense, while Fritz, our largest at 140 lbs., is sweet and calm. Our newest addition, Zada, is the first girl GSD we have had. She is smart, loving, energetic and definitely the boss. She
goes to work with me and is very well behaved. But, she
loves to stay home and hang out with my husband to tap
naps laying on top of him on the sofa. And she feels the
need to supervise the other two dogs...a girl's work is
never done. Best Regards, Hope |

![]() I adopted Onna von Brewer (sire Charles von Todd and dam Caine Manor Law Den's Deputy) in May of 2000 when she was just shy of 2 years old (and I was 69). She came from an unhappy home where the husband did not really like her. The couple finally called Animal Control, handed him all her AKC and purchase contract papers, and said "take her to the pound". Fortunately, instead of the pound, I was contacted because I
had lost my third Golden Retriever to pancreatitis only
months earlier. Onna and I agreed that she would come
live with me. Initially, she was somewhat insecure and
chewed some furniture, but that did not last. She still
will not go downstairs to the basement or even enter the
basement from outside, so perhaps she had been
traumatized there in her former home.![]() Onna and I are very happy together. I live alone and she is my constant companion, always at my side or checking up on me. She is a good watchdog and very protective of me. We are working on her obedience training. As you witnessed when you evaluated her, she remembers most of her earlier training. I have to learn to tell, not ask, her to sit, lie down, stay, etc. and to be consistent in my expectations. I am attaching some photos of her and myself. Regards, George McPheters |

We
are so pleased with our fourth family member from
Brewer's Kennel. Dena fits right into our family. She is
sweet and loving and loyal. She adores the children and
watches them play in the yard. She is obedient,
instantly honors every request with a big doggy smile on
her face. Nancy Brewer has perfectly matched each dog to
us without fail. She is available any time to answer
questions. The baby in particular is very attached to
Dena. He sits on the floor beside her crate or lies on
her stomach when she is out in the house. She follows
him everywhere, and herds him away from trouble spots.
We cannot thank Ms. Brewer enough for our fabulous pets. Margaret and family.(Souleymane Sr, little Margaret, Souleymane Jr, and Robert) |

Zeno
is a well, a very interesting dog. I was not
expecting his personality to end up quite like it
seems to be ending up. At first, I thought he'd be
hard headed, independent, and possibly a bit handler
aggressive. As he has gotten older, he has developed
a very strong pack instinct, more than any other GSD
I've seen. He is literally glued to me when he's
out, laying on me or physically touching me when
possible. I thought he'd be more independent. He is
also smarter than my past two, learning quickly and
not doing a tremendous amount of dopey things. He is
sharply protective of territory and is suspicious
and aggressive to those he does not know who are in
or approach the home. When I tested him a few weeks
ago with a friend pretending to be aggressive while
he was on a leash, he did the right things, barking
aggressively, showing no fear, hair up on the back.
He would have bitten without a doubt. He is
definitely a fighter. He likes to bite canvas tugs
and his grip will be fine I think. On the negative side, he is still hard headed, and can be a bit frustrating to train, even though he could probably learn faster since he is quite intelligent. He wants to do what he wants to do. Also, I'm having problems getting him to act neutral and aloof in a public setting. He likes to lunge, bark, and otherwise act crazy when other people or dogs are close. This seems to be getting a little bit better as he gets older, but with all the corrections, I would have expected him to get better faster! He does great with my 2 mutts and he likes the cats, so we are good there. He is a really good boy overall. I'm thinking either my training abilities weren't as good as I thought, or I need to wait for him to get a bit older so he can calm down a bit more before we do a ton of heavy training. At some point I'd love to bring him back up there for you to see him... he is really good looking! He was a lean 60 pounds at 6 months, so he will be around that 90 pound range, good height too. |

Hi
Ms.Nancy! How are you? I hope you are well. We are ok
here. I went to work for the town vet. am still real
pleased with Perle. She is sooo pretty. We are working
on search/tracking now...doing well..the police here
have used her 2 times, she hasn't done bad but wanted to
play with the other dog they had the first time......We
let her " hunt" our kids around the woods at the house .Hanna handles her well, Wyatt still hasn't really recovered from his sickness. We work with her every other day late in the afternoons, it 's too hot right now to work her hard. I just wanted to let you know how she was and say thanks again. Tracy |

Nitro
is 2 yrs old now. We really have enjoyed having him as
part of our family. He is so attentive! He has to know
what is going on 24hrs a day! He watches us constantly
to know exactly what we are all doing. He loves to be a
constant part of us. He is so devoted. He loves to play
ball! He will fetch anything! He loves to play baseball
and golf with my son. He hits the ball and Nitro
retrieves it and drops it at his feet. My son never has
to move! Ha! Ha! He sits and watches the kids play
badminton. He is so funny! His head moves back and forth
watching the birdie! If it goes out of bounds, he knows
it! He will then get up and retrieve the birdie! He is
so smart! He is also beautiful! We get so many
compliments on him. He just has such an intellectual
look about him. Thanks again for all your advise and
breeding such a wonderful dog!Michelle Moore and family. |

Hello
Nancy,We had some photos taken (by Ron Dashaies), and I wanted to share some of them with you. Also, I want to tell you how much we love Greta. When it was time to get a dog, I was determined to get another husky. My husband, however, wanted to try a different breed. This is one time I am glad I gave in. Greta is such a wonderful addition to our family. She is very intelligent, loves to play, and is wonderful companionship. Thank you so much for choosing her for us. |

Nancy,![]() This is Jason and Jaime Murphy writing to give you an update on Omara. We bought her from you in August 2000. She is doing very well and got a sister, Tessa, from the Doberman Rescue of the Triad in 2001. They are great together. I never thought I would see the day when Mara would share anything with another dog, much less her house and favorite humans. We
just wanted to let you know that she is a happy 7
year old now and just as spunky as ever. Every year
at the annual Doberman Rescue picnic Tessa wins the
contest for fastest sit but Mara always wins for
best costume (LOL ;)

Hi Nancy, My Family and I want to
thank you for our first German Shepherd, Olympia von
Brewer. She is a joy to have, and we love her dearly. We
also appreciate your 24/7 customer service and kindness.
She is a smart, happy puppy that makes us smile all the
time. Thank you again, Mr and Mrs Souleymane Bah and
Souleymane Jr. I am sending you this email to thank you for my second purchase from you, Cora. You have done a wonderful job matching her to my family. She is very sweet and loving. Imagine my surprise when after having her for only 5 days, she showed me what she is really made of. My husband was out of town and I was up late watching TV with Cora. She sat up, growled and ran to the back door. She began barking furiously at a strange man that was standing on my deck at 3 am. I said \"Go away before I let my dog go!\" She scared him so bad, he ran away before the police could get here. I feel safe in my home and know I have a loyal family member that loves us and will without a doubt protect us. Thank you a million times, Margaret |

I
just wanted to let you know how much we love Viper. When
we got him I felt a connection with him even though he
was not a small cuddly little puppy. He was four months
old when he became a part of our family. I can still
remember the ride home and how well behaved he was. You
had really done a good job with him and it showed. Thanks so much for all the support you have given me. Knowing that I am a fellow breeder has not made you a uncareing person. That means alot to me and why I send people to you when I do not have puppies. I know you have good dogs and that is why I turned to you when I lost my stud dog Lugar. Viper is perfect for Joe and I. He loves to play ball and is good with our grandchildren. Thanks so much for your hard work and understanding of the German Shepherd. I have learned so much from you, so thanks again for your special breeding and knowledge. Gail |

I
wanted to write you a thank you note for providing me
the exact dog I told you I wanted during our
“Pre-purchase” interview. You sincerely seem to have a
“God given talent” in monitoring a litter of puppies and
matching clients with puppies that will fit their needs.
During the interview I was wondering why you kept asking
me specific questions about what I wanted out of my
puppy. I understand now. You sold us a puppy that fit
our needs exactly, we couldn’t be more pleased with her!
We named our pup Foxxy and she has
the highest ball drive I have ever seen in a dog. She
even has more drive than Boz, my big male you are
training now for his “Protection Dog Title”. I didn’t
think that was possible as Boz also has an incredibly
high ball drive!! Something else I received from you, other than my pup, is the amount of help you have been to us in every aspect of raising Foxxy. Even to the level of training my wife and myself on proper techniques we can use while training her at home. In closing, thanks again Nancy for maintaining the integrity of the German Shepherd Dog, for being such a good breeder that consistently, and conscientiously tries to provide excellent service above and beyond other breeders. Keep up the good work! Steve & Nancy Frith |

![]() April 19, 2003 Just a note to express to you my gratitude for producing and training such a wonderful line of German Shepherd dogs. My girl Quinya has been a pure joy to me. Since purchasing her from you in June of 2002, she has grown to be an intricate part of our family. I must admit I was a little hesitant about buying a dog that was almost a year and a half old but that has turned out to be one of my better decisions. Since you had been working with her for most of her life she was far more advanced in obedience than if I had purchased a puppy. She is loyal, responsive, devoted and intelligent. It has been a pure joy to have her as part of our home. Mother has asked me to say a few words for her as well. As you know my Mother was the first inquirer about purchasing one of your dogs. She was looking for a well mannered and "safe" dog for her companion and possible to sire a litter of puppies. She brought me with her and the rest is history...I ended up buying the first of our "children" then in October 2002 we returned and purchased Jake, again a dog a little over a year and a half old who has become my Mom's constant companion. Jake is a beautiful, sound and loyal friend to my Mom. He is watching her every move and does not want her out of his sight. With my Dad gone he has given her sense of security and independence she would not otherwise had if Jake were not there for her. As if Jake and Quinya weren't enough we returned in December of 2002 and purchased Yipsy who has yet again fit right into our family. Nancy, I can't
begin to describe how wonderful it is to have these
wonderful and intelligent Sincerely, Teresa D. Kimrey |
